Cold Formed Steel

Cold formed steel structures are built with galvanised or raw steel coils using cold forming techniques. The most commonly used and the most appropriate technique is using roll-forming. By this way the profiles are manufactured at the required length and drilled even for very small amounts.

Light gauge profile has a high load carrying capacity in comparison with its weight since it has relatively high depth in proportion to its thickness. This brings weight-efficient and therefore economical solutions with respect to hot rolled profiles.

Cold formed steel structures are subject to less earthquake loads because of their light forms. Additionally, they have more economic foundation sections and whole pats of building due to less effecting vertical and horizontal loads.

The profiles ensure rapid assembly since they are manufactured according to the required size with the connection holes punched by roll-forming technology. Also they don’t have cost in sandblasting and painting which produced from galvanised coils.

The system is so lighter that generally heavy construction machinery not needed on site. There are many savings in handling and assembly such as labour and time.

Fields that is suitable for these systems are; medium-span industrial structures, warehouses, roof floor at multi-storey buildings, villas and modular buildings as the main structure. In addition, cold formed profiles can be used where the statical calculations permitted and especially as purlins and siderails at every type of steel structure.

Side rails systems can be formed to carry the cladding materials and wind load at the precast concrete structures. The form of the profiles is very appropriate for the continious beam design. This system has a very high level of corrosion resistance due to its open shape and bolted assembly.
